Lincoln head into the Continental Cup semi final on Sunday as they host Birmingham Ladies.
The blues have visited Ashby Avenue once this season, coming from behind twice to grab a 2-2 draw. That was only the second game of the season, but the teams have faced each other again since then. It was only two weeks ago when Birmingham left their home ground with all three points, having completed a 3-1 victory.
With four goals in each game this season, it could be a game for the neutrals as both teams try to reach the final, where they will meet either Arsenal or Bristol Academy.
Both teams only played on Thursday night, but with differing fortunes. Lincoln travelled away to local rivals Doncaster, where they fell to a 2-1 defeat. Second top Birmingham were also away, as they travelled to London to face Chelsea, a late goal giving them a 1-0 victory.
Despite a disappointing result on Thursday, Lincoln have done well in the cup so far this year having won all three of the group games, including a 4-3 victory over current champions Arsenal.
Sunday’s game could be the biggest game in Lincoln’s recent history, certainly since they joined the Super League two years ago, as they bid to be only the second ever winners of the competition.
Kick off is at 2pm at Ashby Avenue and tickets are available on the day. If you can’t make it to the game, be sure to follow @ladyimps on twitter for ball by ball updates throughout the game.
